Under the South Australian Freedom of Information Act 1991,you may be entitled to various documents related to SACAT administration.

This is subject to exemptions and limitations which are set out in full in the FOI Act and Regulations. The FOI legislation also sets out fees and charges in relation to an application.

What can I access?

The FOI Act does not apply to documents related to proceedings before SACAT.

Any application for access to documents relating to SACAT's members or proceedings falls under the SACAT Act.

Contact a SACAT Tribunal Case Officer who will explain the procedures and charges that may apply.

How to make an FOI application concerning SACAT

An application for access under the FOI Act to documents held by SACAT must be made in writing either by writing a letter or by completing an application form.

See the South Australian Government website for the Freedom of information request for access form.

If you are writing SACAT a letter, the letter should say you are making an application for access to documents under the FOI Act and include enough information to enable SACAT to identify the documents.

You must include an email or postal address that SACAT can use to write to you about your application.

Application fees

All applications must be accompanied by the relevant application fee. Contact SACAT on 1800 723 767 to pay by credit card.

There may be additional fees to process your application. The size of those fees will usually not be known until SACAT receives and considers your application. You will be notified if there are additional fees to pay.

Fee exemptions apply for concession card holders or where SACAT is satisfied that payment of the fee or charge would cause you financial hardship or for another good reason.

If you think you should not have to pay all or part of a fee or charge, call SACAT on 1800 723 767.
